Weekend Excursion

Secondary 4-5

Peter, Sophie and Jobbie were the students who took part of the excursion trip near Helen's Falls. Barbara, their teacher, Tommy Baron, Alice Baron, and Bobby Baron were also part of the trip as guides. Young Marc (5 y.o.)was also part of the trip. I was invited to join this group at the last minute and I really enjoyed this long weekend spending more time with Inuit people. It allowed me to know new people and also to understand better a part of the Inuit culture.

The boats took us for a 2 and a half hour ride near Helen's falls, up on the George River. We were very happy to set up the camp with the help of our guides.

Bobby Baron was one of our guides. He is a very ressourceful person.
On the second day, we had the chace to see many carobous crossing the river near our camp. Bobby and Tommy took each their boat and went towards the beatiful animal.
For the first time in her life, Sophie had the chance to shoot a caribou. We were all very proud of her and she was very happy.
Sophie and Jobbie are working hard so we can be warm and cook our food later.
